Antigua Added To UK "White-List" |
In the UK, the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Andy Burnham, has announced that the small Caribbean island nation of Antigua And Barbuda has been added to the advertising ‘white-list’.
The decision will now see Antigua able to advertise remote gambling services to UK residents from November 20 as if it were a member of the European Economic Area (EEA), the 30-nation single market organisation that includes Malta, Cyprus and Gibraltar.
The small nation had its first application rejected in January alongside that of the Kahnawake Gaming Commmission but it appealed to the Secretary of State and subsequently underwent a full assessment.
Antigua has now followed the Isle Of Man, Alderney and Tasmania onto the ‘white-list’ as a non-EEA member, a move that puts it on an equal footing with larger jurisdictions such as Gibraltar or Malta.
